The first thing you need when shaping is a template. Either a quarter, half, or whole template is what you need. Start with the blank surfboard, and an electric planer, start planing the bottom and skinning the deck. You are going to do the rough work right now, just get your board to the approximate thickness righ now. I like to thin out the nose and tail a lot before I go to the next step. Next you will draw the plan template on the surfboard, cut it out with a saw and smooth it over with a block and sand paper. Then I put in the bottom contours, and map out the rails and speed edge. Rails are tricky, I use 3 measurements on the deck, and 2 for the bottom undertuck. Make sure you leave a speed edge, blend your lines, screen it with sanding screen, and fine sand your board. Do not leave a high stringer, as a laminator, sander, polisher etc. I will probably not fix this for you, nor will anyone else.
If your wondering why I am writing this, its because I think everyone should shape atleast one surfboard in thier life as a surfer. Further more, I help teach a surfboard shaping class, and I think this blog may help them when they have questions. Their will be more later on this blog, and in the PV High surfboard shaping topic on this blog site
