How strong should a surfboard be?

This is a hard question to answer, but to weight it out, you must marginalize the benefits, and who said micro economics wasn't practical... If a surfboard can withstand an impact of 50 lbs per sq foot and it is hit with 51 lbs per sq foot it will ding. But if a surfboard can withstand an impact of 55 lbs per sq foot and is nailed with a 51 lb blow, it may not even dent. In the world of surfboards, each addition costs, and weights more, you will have to marginalize the benefits of more cost, possibly more weight, for less dings. How much performance are you willing to sacrifice for a stronger surfboard?
