WHen I was a kid, I lost my board at burnout and it actually went inside of the storm drain. Second worst: I was surfing hags and I decided to take an insider. In the back of my mind, I knew I should of not gone...but I went for it anyway. I ran over a boil, fell, and watched my Happy Hour model bash into the rocks (I don't own a leash because they're for pussies) Good thing the crew at Dreiling's factory aka Bunny's glassing, glassed my Happy Hour double volan with quality and strength. My board might of got a few crackles here and there, but that shit made a few rocks into sand
One of my worst ding experiences was with ed factor. He took me up to malibu pt. on a solid south swell one very special morning. He was going to surf his bran new, double stringer, double volan, tint top and bottom, pen line, glass on fin, and gloss n polish 9'8" Dreiling. After surfing for a few hours he insisted that I try it, I refused for about 30 minuets, I dont like surfing peoples boards at a rock beach with out a leash. But Ed Factor insisted, and persisted until I agreed. I took off deep and brilliantly, it was a nice 5 or 6 footer, I took it at least 20 feet before a train of surfers dropped in on me. The wave sectioned, I jumped off of the board trying to grab the rails, but I had no chance. This board went racing in, it was horrific, I remember seeing the board all of the sudden stand straight up and down. Dangit I thought (it must have hit a rock dead on), and so did Ed Factor, he has never insisted I try one of his boards to this day. That is one of my worst dings.
Pt. DOOM! Ripped fix box clean out and riped nose of my lost thruster completely off. Had DJ and his team to help me out. Props bro.
